The fabrics of San Leucio represent one of the most prestigious expressions of Italian silk art. Their history has its roots in the 18th century, when Ferdinand IV of Bourbon transformed the hill of San Leucio, near Caserta, into an important center dedicated to silk production.
In 1789, the Royal Colony of San Leucio was founded, an innovative industrial and social project that combined manufacturing, training, and worker protection. Thanks to the contribution of specialized technicians and the introduction of advanced weaving techniques, the colony developed a very high-quality production, appreciated for the refinement and resistance of its fabrics.
During the nineteenth century, the Leucian manufacture acquired a solid international reputation, keeping its tradition alive even after the end of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies. In the twentieth century, despite having to contend with modern industrial production, it managed to preserve its identity thanks to its specialization in fine fabrics.
Even today, the name San Leucio is synonymous with artisanal excellence. Its fabrics furnish royal residences, institutional headquarters, and prestigious buildings around the world, testifying to a tradition that continues to combine history, quality, and innovation.
